Councilman, representing Ward 1

James W. Sumner was first elected to Blue Ash City Council effective December 1, 1991, and has been re-elected in each municipal election since. He served as Blue Ash’s Mayor from December 1, 1997 to December 2001. Councilman Sumner is also a member of the Blue Ash Planning Commission as Council’s representative, and has served on the Commission since December 10, 2001. Prior to his Council service, he was a member of the Blue Ash Board of Site Arrangement/Zoning Appeals from October 1987 to December 1991.

In addition to his public service to the City of Blue Ash, Mr. Sumner also serves as Commissioner of the Ohio Public Works Commission (appointed by Senate President Richard Finan in January 2002). Mr. Sumner also serves on the Executive Committee of the Hamilton County Municipal League; is a member of the Hamilton County Convention Facilities Authority Board of Directors; and is a member of the Ohio Kentucky Indiana (OKI) Regional Council of Governments.
